Color & Euphoria: 365 Days of Scribbling. Volumes 1 & 2

Book Design, Photography, Illustration | 2019

Why? Color & Euphoria is an abstract color combination art book documenting a personal 365 day drawing project.

The use of color has a significant effect on a brand's visual identity, and there are consequences that occur from the various color juxtapositions. Color & Euphoria: 365 Days of Scribbling is an abstract color combination book documenting 365 drawings that visually consider these color juxtapositions in order to experiment and experience tonality and color semiotics.

The Art of Curation

The intention of the book cover was to relay a similar toned message without depicting the same subject inside. The photograph taken by Michael Chou evoked a sense of mystery and passage into the book that leads to opening a book revealing hundreds of abstract color drawings.

A 365 Day Project

Michael Chou scribbled linear patterns using different colors everyday in 2018 to create new color combinations. The goal was to break old color-choosing habits and start anew.

Bird’s-Eye-View

When looking at the visual identity of a brand, the use of color is one of the major visual elements that makes it unique. Creating these abstract drawings helps to visualize and conceptualize possible tonalities/feeling for all sorts of systems.

These artworks serve as both visual delicacy as well as a reference for color combinations.
